My problem is not Trump winning the election. I know for a fact, he will not do anything of what he claims he will do. My problem is Trump’s supporters who will feel enabled to practice their racism and bigotry on other Americans who aren’t exactly like them.
I’ve seen it happen in Cleveland this week without him even winning, so imagine if Trump wins. Trump supporters will go on a purge for real.
This election season is the most critical, comical, and hysterical yet. You have to vote. Not voting is a vote for Trump. A vote for Trump is a vote to let millions of racist White Privileged Americans practice their bigotry on people like me and you. A vote against Trump will ensure that hostility remains in our nation.
We don’t need to make America great again. America is already great. People like Trump will only bring us down. We need to make America GREATER, and that will happen when we come together as one nation to condemn racism, bigotry, and hate.
We don’t need to make America safe again. America is already safe. People like Trump will only use violence to push through their ideas. We need to make America SAFER, and that will happen when we come together as one nation to condemn police brutality, racial profiling, free guns, and domestic violence.
We don’t need to make America work again. America is already working. People like Trump will stop Americans from working in good environments. We need to make America WORK BETTER, and that will happen when we pay everyone equally, increase minimum wage, and offer same jobs to men and women despite race, color, gender, disability, or sexual orientation.
You see, America is really a great nation. The notion of making it great again, only demeans it, and does not promise to make it great. We need to improve, grow, and develop. We don’t need to start over again.
I am an American Muslim of a Middle Eastern background. I love this nation with all my heart, and Donald Trump does not scare me. Donald Trump will not push me away. Donald Trump will not make me fear being an American, and will certainly not intimidate me.
So Donald J. Trump, I know you’re enjoying this dramatic election, BUT I promise you that I will do all I can to make sure you don’t make it into that office. I will do that not because I fear you, but because I fear uneducated bigots who believe in your hate rhetoric.
God Bless America.
